Latest on Budget Ceiling from Tom Price Office

Report from Mark Lane of the GTP Federal Task Force

On Tuesday, yesterday at noon, MoveOn.org scheduled a rally at Congressman Price’s Marietta Office to show their opposition to the Cut, Cap and Balance legislation that Tom Price voted in favor.

The North Fulton and Cherokee Tea Parties learned of this protest and quickly rallied a counter-presence with their members. When we learning this, I called Tom Price’s Office, and was informed that they expected a “low-to-no” turnout from MoveOn. As it happened, 15 MoveOn.org persons showed along with an estimated 70 Tea Partiers. Since the MoveOn gathering was a small, non-threatening group, I don’t regret not calling out our GTP to join in the noon-day fun yesterday, but it was more fun that I expected, and next time I will get a note out to our GTP Members should we have other similar opportunities.

Also, we have seen some emails expressing concern over Congressman Price’s position with the Debt Ceiling negotiations. Again I called his office today and learned that he voted for, and primarily supports, the Cut, Cap and Balance legislation that already passed the House. Furthermore, since that bill is not moving, he is reviewing all of the Plans coming from John Boehner and elsewhere on a “minute by minute” basis. His general position is he will only raise the debt ceiling by making equal or greater spending cuts and without raising taxes.
