Senate Plans to Abdicate its Confirmation Duties

In recent years, the job of United States Senator has evidently been added to the list of ‘jobs that Americans won’t do.’ Harry Reid’s Senate has categorically shirked its core constitutional responsibility by refusing to pass a budget for over two years. Concurrently, the Senate has been preoccupied with feckless, unconstitutional legislation that fails to deal with any of the paramount public policy problems facing the nation.

Today, Chuck Schumer, with the help of Mitch McConnell and Lamar Alexander, plans to vitiate one of the Senate’s few remaining constitutional duties; advising and consenting to presidential appointees. The Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act (S.679), which was never reported out of a committee, would eliminate the confirmation requirement for 200 presidential appointees. This bill would completely abrogate the safeguards against tyranny that were established in the “Appointments Clause” of the constitution.

Marietta Independence Day Parade
July 4th, 2011

It is so important for us to "show our colors" every once in a while. Many have asked what they can do to help the Tea Party and this is one of the things you can do! We are once again marching in the Marietta 4th of July parade on Monday the 4th. If you or your family or friends want to participate with us and support our ideals of fiscal responsibility and Constitutionally limited government, please sign up and enter number of people in your party at this link. We will provide more info by e-mail to those interested.

Parade starts at 10am and we will meet up at about 8:30 or 9 at our assigned place (we don't know where that is yet!). Last year we were one of the largest groups and the only one to get applause all along the street!

Come join us, support a great cause, and have fun!

Georgia Tea Party Shirts

We are placing a special order for polo shirts, long sleeve dress shirts and long sleeve denim shirts with the embroidered Georgia Tea Party logo. We're also placing an order for screen printed logo t-shirts in custom colors.  If you'd like to order a screen printed custom t-shirt in a color like red or blue for wearing in the parade, or other colors for your wardrobe, please try to attend Thursday night's meeting.    We will have sample colors and styles at the meeting.  We have a minimum order that needs to be met in order to get the t-shirts produced. 

We need your order and payment by June 24th to get the t-shirts produced by July 4th for the parade.
